Pastor Kim Ethridge was born and raised in South Korea, where she studied English Language and Literature at Kyong-Nam University. During her college years, she met her husband, Gary, who was serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Jinhae. After their marriage, they moved to Long Beach, California, where Kim began her career in corporate marketing. Though she had sensed God’s call to ministry from an early age, growing up in a Methodist church where women were not often seen in pastoral roles made her hesitant to pursue ordination. Yet, as she faithfully served in youth ministry, God’s calling became undeniable, leading her to step out in faith.
Kim earned her Master of Theology and Biblical Studies from Talbot School of Theology. After graduation, she and Gary followed God’s leading to Austin, Texas, where she was ordained and served in several churches before being appointed to San Antonio in 2019. During the season of disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church, Kim felt a clear call to plant a Global Methodist Church in central San Antonio. That calling gave birth to Christ The Rock Church, the Truth and Spirit-led community rooted in the vision to; Give Christ and His love, live in God’s holiness, and shine Christ’s light. Kim is passionate about teaching the life-giving Word of God, equipping believers, and raising up young disciples in Christ. She and Gary have two sons, a daughter and a daughter-in-law, they share a deep love for the people of San Antonio.
